Ten Things of Thankful #74

I had planned on writing this yesterday, but then fell ill and ended up on the couch binge-watching 30 Rock while my stomach did horrible, horrible things to me. I’m feeling slightly better today, so here I am, sharing my thankfuls with you. And drinking coffeh, which really is the best part of waking up. Let’s be honest…it’s the only good part of waking up.

I don’t win contests, so I never enter them. Even in McDonald’s Monopoly (where everyone is a winner) the only thing I’ve ever won is a small order of fries. So it was quite a shock to me when I received an email from the amazing TJ Lubrano the other day informing me that I was one of three Inktober winners. TJ, for those of you unaware, is an uh-mazing and successful artist from The Netherlands. TJ is a very talented writer, too. I highly recommend you follow her on her blog, on Twitter, and on Facebook for entertaining conversation and insight into the artistic process. Also, she’s having an Etsy sale right now. Go check it out!

One of the pieces I picked. See how awesome!?!?!?

Moments with Baby C:

  • Mario Kart 64. Baby C has taken to that game and loves it. “I have to win the finish line, daddy!”
  • Twins: *acting like jackholes while they’re supposed to be cleaning the kitchen*

Me: *goes and gets C and brings him to the kitchen* (to C) Tell bubbies to cut that out.

    C: Cut that out, bubbies!

    Twins: *continue acting like jackholes*

C: (to me) They don’t want to.

  • One day I returned home from work to find C attired in his cousin’s clothes. His female cousin’s clothes. It was awesome.c in e's clothes

Netflix. Since my bankruptcy is finally paid off I finally felt comfortable signing up for Netflix again and I have been streaming content all week. I’m already 5 seasons in to 30 Rock. I think I want to marry Tina Fey.

Last week I finally broke my guest post cherry on the new blog with a post from Laura Lord. Go check it out!

I’ve connected to many people through blogging and I’m thankful for each one of those connections. These people understand me, which is great but it should probably scare them that they do.

Coffee. Always coffee. As mentioned above, it’s the only good thing about waking up.

VIII feel like my relationship with the twins has gotten better over the last few months. My openness with them, I hope, has strengthened our relationships. It seems we’re more at ease in each other’s company. We talk more. We joke around more. There’s less and less conflict. I don’t know what it is, but I’m very, very grateful for it.

Still have not consumed a drop of alcohol since September 12. At this point I’m going for a record. Or something. It’s been a LONG time since I went this long without a drink. I’m sure sometime in the next couple months I’ll end up having a couple of drinks, but it will be to exacerbate a good time, and not escape my demons, who have thankfully been very quiet as of late.

Hot water. After having read a post this morning about a fellow blogger whose hot water heater broke, and remembering the cold showers I had to take when that happened to me, I am VERY thankful for hot water.

XLaughter. Whether it’s John Stewart, John Oliver, 30 Rock, or my children making me laugh, I have been laughing quite a bit recently. And it feels good. Having laughter in your life really does have a positive impact on your morale.

  1. I love reading that you have more laughter in your life, and that your world is brightened by it. Surely THAT is worth waking up for. Maybe it doesn’t embetter the actual process of transitioning from sleep to awake, but it sure makes the days go better. AND ME – I MAKE THE DAYS GO BETTER. But yeah, whatevs – Baby C being cute, excellent relationship news with the twins, winning stuff – all lovely and valid and awesome. 😉

I’m glad of you, my BTFFFL 😀 And truly, this is a great list.

Hope you continue to feel much, much better.

    1. Ha! I thought you popped in only to say FRIST!

Coffeh is, of course, not the only reason to wake to wake up. My children are ultimately my reason to wake up. Coffeh just makes it easier.

      1. Nooooooo I just had to then stop and read the rest of the post 😀 I tend to cheat a little and see if I can get my FRIST in there before anyone else, which requires NOT reading the post at first 😉

Bit of a cheat, perhaps, but it works for me.

You have an awesome ultimate reason 😀

        1. Ah till the end of November. I want to give everyone enough time to browse and ponder haha. If you see something and you know for a fact you want to get it, but need a bit more time, I can reserve it for you. If you do this, the discount of 25% will still apply even after the sale is over. 🙂

  2. Coffeeh liquid sanity. such a small simple comfort but yet so huge.

Stomachs are real bastards. Why do they have to do us like that?

I really hope your relationship with the twins continues to blossom and grow.

  3. Aww I didn’t expect this at all. Such a lovely surprise. Thank you soooo much, CT! *honorable bow and hugs* You are always so kind! ^_^ That Geisha is quite popular. It makes me happy, haha.

Feel better soon, okay? I recall a time, not soooo long ago where I had food poisoning. Oh my stomach was not happy. Not happy at all!

    Also, BABY C!! *waves*

  4. That piece from TJ really is beautiful! I think it’s watercolor or gouache. Very difficult medium to work with. Well executed.

Coffee: The affordable addiction. The one that won’t make you lose your job, your family or wreck the car.

    VII = Huzzah.

    1. Hellooo! And thank you so much 🙂 It’s actually Indian ink. I participated in Inktober and I only used ink for all the art pieces I created in October. It was a challenge, but working in this medium truly gave my art a different vibe. I adore my watercolors, but ink is an awesome change and…in some cases even trickier than watercolors! I was shocked to learn this. Or…the difficulty is aimed at how I used the ink, haha. ^_^

  5. Laughter is awesome, so is all those wonderful moments with your kids. Netflix yay! 🙂

Um, fellow blogger buddies is big yay ….. “it should scare them that they do” ??? Um, if you say so…. I’m not feeling the least bit scared about that and there’s loads of stuff that scares me!

Laura’s post was awesome! I have yet to pop that cherry on my own blog….

And yea, hot water big yay! And flushing toilets and I could add 50 to that list. We tend to take the basic stuff for granted until we don’t have it or see someone else who does not have it.

  6. This is a great list, hope you’re feeling better! Welcome to the world of Netflix, good bye getting anything accomplished! 🙂 We seem to like the same things, have you ever seen the show Scrubs? It’s a wacky comedy about how med students become doctors, but there’s so much comedy gold there. My son & I could watch those over and over and over. GOLD.
Congrats on winning, I usually don’t enter anything either because of Charlie Brown Syndrome. I also worked for marketing companies, and they often never did pick a winner, those give-aways are just set up to get your email or other contact information. A couple times the customer MADE US announce a winner, so we would pick someone’s relative’s name. And not send them anything. We’re all losers when it comes to Marketing.

    1. Scrubs is okay. I’ve seen it a handful of times. I haven’t decided what I’m gonna watch next. Although, Friends will be available starting January 1st….

  7. So many blogs, so little time…
Coffee. Yes. To all of that.
Great moments with all of your kids. Awesome. LOVE the pink Vader pic. 😀
Hooray for being booze-free so long! I know some people very close to me who struggled with that and I know it’s huge. HUGE. Hooray for you.
I think I would also marry Tina Fey. Love her.
Hope you’re feeling better – stomach bugs are the absolute worst, in my opinion.
Have a great rest of the week!

  8. Scott, Tahira has been a HUGE supporter of my daughter’s artistry. She’s a kind, generous, GIVING woman. She’s been a great resource. Her cupcake tutorial is awesome.
