Today is day 4 of both NaBloPoMo and my 30 Days & 30 Songs challenge. Today’s challenge is to pick a song that calms you down or a song that reminds you of someone you’d rather forget.

Team CheerPeppers. We’re hot.

I’m really not sure why anyone would like a song that reminds them of someone they’d rather forget, so for today’s challenge, I’ll be choosing option 1.

If I’ve gotten to the point where I’m so emotionally frayed that nearly every song I play is pulling me further into a hell of my mind’s own design, I’ll throw on my “Weird Al” Yankovic playlist. Nothing confuses my demons more than silly songs that exist solely to be weird and make people laugh. While I immensely enjoy listening to songs with which I can resonate, sometimes I just need that mental break only an escape from reality can bring. The voices in my head fall silent as my demons contemplate the absurdity of these songs. It’s relaxing.

I could make an entire list of “Weird Al” songs in response to this challenge, but for today I’ll go with Albuquerque because it’s an epic, eleven minute journey filled with hilarity, stupidity, and a reference to Leonard Nemoy’s butt. It just doesn’t get any better than this.
