Close your mind
Hate me
Judge me based on misconceptions
Prostrate me
Shun understating
Dance in delusion
Adrenalize your anger
Propagate confusion
Turn love to hate
Cast a finger of blame
Disregard my desperate pleas
Fuel the fires of my burning shame
Spew your venomous lies
Refuse my reconciliatory tries
Claim my pain as your victory prize
Darken my ever blackening skies
I’ve done all I can think of
To escape this vindictive prison
I’ve apologized, I’ve explained
Yet I remain unforgiven
Fortify your heart of stone
Embrace your hateful core
Let loose your serpentine disposition
Wage your cold war
Carry out your defamatory crimes
But know at the very end
When every bridge is burnt
You’ll have nary a friend
When you judge so harshly
When you refuse to forgive
You’re paving yourself
A lonely life to live
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone
Remember those words when you’re all alone
You, too, have made mistakes overblown
In my eyes it’s never too late to atone
I’ve let go of my regrets
And from the ashes arisen
I’m no longer encaged
Because I’m unforgiven
Wow! Love it!
“When you judge so harshly
When you refuse to forgive
You’re paving yourself
A lonely life to live”
That. Ouch. Well done.

Ouch indeed. A lesson I learned the hard way, sadly.

Whew TD, that is an amazing and powerful poem. The ideas are strong and clean. Thank you very much and I hope those to whom it most applies listen.
As an aside, I did a guest post over at Cordelia’s Mom recently http://cordeliasmomstill.com/2014/09/04/red-stars-guest-post-by-paul-curran/ . I would be honored if you could find the time to drop by and have a read. Thank you very much.

Awesome, Paul! I didn’t think you blogged. Do you have your own blog yet?

I don’t yet TD because of hardware problems. This old laptop freezes up everytime I try to set up an account and i get warning messages from WordPress that I have to update. I tried but can’t because i’m using XP and am short on memory. So, I’m saving my pennies for a new or used computer that will give me more power. I’ll get there.
I’ve only done a few guest posts and am getting good feedback. I really appreciate you dropping by and commenting. Thank you so much for the compliment and i hope you come by again TD

Yes, well done. When the cut runs deep I think it’s near impossible to express the pain in simple prose, but with this complexity? Masterful. It rolls and broils without apology. I love it.

You seem to have a poetry thing going on? I like the way you play with placement. Good job, as always.

Yeah, I’ve been really feeling poetry lately. I have no idea why, but I’m going with it.

I would, but I think it would go to your head. And also I’d feel like I should curtsey around you (long tradition with Nobles and suchlike over here) ;p

I do believe I’d like to see you curtsy.

A golden phoenix
Rises up from the ashes
Shining brighter
Than before
No need to settle the score
Cleansed is his core
Who needs bridges
When you have wings
And friend that sings
Soaring high
There to seize
before life starts to freeze
Stormy winds start to breeze
Above the stormy clouds
Accepted and respected

“serpentine disposition.” That’s magnificent.
Bout time I commented over at your new digs. I love what you’ve done with the place.

Are you kidding? NEVER.
Mid August through end of September is my crazy season at work. Barely read any blogs. I think I posted once in 6 weeks. But I AM not giving up!
I shall prevail!!
I like this side of you. I’ll have to stalk and see what other poetry you’ve written lately.

I started blogging last Thanksgiving. I never blogged through my “back to school” season.
It SUCKS. I feel so out of touch. Bantering on FB is easy and requires little thought. But blog reading, commenting, writing – all has fallen through the wayside.
I’m actually working on my time management. TD, I have found that not blogging is really detrimental to my (mental) health. I need to be an active part of this community.
By the way, as much as I loved your poem, I wasn’t crazy about the subject matter. Nuff said.
Hey – if you have other recent poems, can you drop the links here? It would help a sistah out ❤

That means you’ve probably never had to deal with something like this before. If that’s the case, you are fortunate indeed.

Well this is just relentlessly powerful. Oh, what amazing poetry and use of words to describe such a poisonous heart of unforgiveness. I pity the person who chooses anger to dominate and imprison their life. You speak truth and paint the picture so vividly…
